Chapter 40 is the chapter of the manga Cardcaptor Sakura, forming part of Volume 10.
Synopsis
The chapter begins with Syaoran sensing Clow Reed's presence. He asks Tomoyo where Sakura is, who in the meantime, Po is with Yue in the star labyrinth. Sakura transforms into Sakura Card The Maze The Illusion to deceive the other students.
Sakura also senses Clow Reed's presence, and after opening a curtain, she finds herself facing Eriol. Then she faints, while Syaoran and Yue search for her.
While Sakura is unconscious, she dreams of a conversation between Clow Reed, Yue and Kerberos.
Clow warns them that that will be the day of his death, and the 2 companions are in disbelief.
He says that he is preparing everything for the person who will become Master after him. He then appoints Yue to be the judge, while Kerberos will choose the candidate.
After that, Clow seals the two guardians on the book, and divides his soul in two. The scene changes to Sakura in her room with Tomoyo, Syaoran and Kero-chan and she talks about her dream.
Meanwhile, Yukito is taking care of Touya in bed.
Yukito realizes that he is not human and that his whole life is a lie. Touya reassures him that he wants him by his side.
Sakura goes out to do some shopping and accompanies Tomoyo and Syaoran outside.
While she is with Syaoran, they stop at the garden and she tells him that she confessed her feelings to Yukito, but that Yukito made her think about it and made her realize that that feeling was more similar to the love she feels for her father.
He is also fond of her and feels like part of the family.
Syaoran consoles her by telling her that he understands what she is feeling.
